There are not many places left in California that aren't getting renovated, built on or bulldozed. Southern California especially seems like all the same mini-malls and food courts. The Salton Sea is not like that at all. Check Wikipedia for a good history of how it came to be a disaster and yet also a wildlife refuge. People still live there and the area is a major place for agriculture, but there are places where it seems the apocalypse took place. Dustin Koop and I had a rare American holiday, and spent a day driving around the sea, looking for abandoned structures, fish skeletons, and possible skate spots. These are just a few of the pics we took that day.
