Design, art and ramblings of Craig Metzger

PHOTO: NOCTCHAW
WORDS: BOB K

In this feature we bring you images, info and opinions on some products that you can find in stores right now. Unless we think that something's totally fucking stupid and we feel like we really have to tell you about how stupid it is, nothing that appears here will ever get a bad review. In short: this is the best stuff.

  Arkitip Viewfinder (with free magazine):

The thing I've always really liked about Arkitip, aside from it being my favorite art magazine out, is the stuff that comes with it. I've said it before and I'll say it again: it's like you're paying for the extras that are packaged along with the issues, which would stand alone as a bargain at the price you pay.

Issue 44 is essentially the catalog for an art show entitled Highmath that they presented in Berlin along with the design firm Wood Wood. Along with the regular features it's filled with works from some of your favorite artists including Andrew Schoultz, Chris Lindig, Ed Templeton, Evan Hecox, Cody Hudson, CR Stecyk III, Eric Elms, Gary Benzel, Geoff McFetridge, Jo Jackson, José Parlá, Josh Petherick, Kaws, Killpixie, Michael Leon, Kevin Lyons, Michael Perry, Parra, Phil Frost, Perks, Peter Beste, Peter Sutherland, Richard Colman, Ryan Waller, Shepard Fairey, Todd St. John & Steven Harrington. The viewfinder has images from the book/magazine. So good.

Arkitip magazine's founding principles:
- Support the arts
- Promote freedom of expression
- Make art affordable and accessible

3 out of 3 ain't bad.
