WORDS: BOB K

In this feature we bring you images, info and opinions on some products that you can find in stores right now. Unless we think that something's totally fucking stupid and we feel like we really have to tell you about how stupid it is, nothing that appears here will ever get a bad review. In short: this is the best stuff.

Zero Skateboards - 4 boards from the Strange World series

Watch Zero's New Blood video
from 2005 while you're waiting
for Strange World to come out

Not long ago I had the pleasure of being given a tour of Zero's office building in Carlsbad, and I have two things to tell you:

The first is that it's all real. All of that stuff that you may or may not have heard them claiming about skater owned and operated and skater driven and skater this and that, well all of that stuff is actually real. I went in there and instead of wading through cubicles full of middle-aged men dressed business casual I was surrounded by dudes who wear shoelaces as belts and probably don't even know what the term "business casual" means. It made me feel at home.

The second thing I have to tell you is a little more personal. It's about this weird thing that I've done for years, ever since I can remember. I don't know if it's the hobo in me or what but when I first go into an office or a store or any sort of business I immediately eye up all of the places where I would build living quarters if I owned the place. The skatepark at Zero is the biggest I've seen at any skateboard company's office meaning that there's more than enough room under the ramps to house me and my entire extended family. Directly behind the park there's also bunk beds in a full dorm room setup with laundry machines and stuff for the team riders when they're in town, basically a total waste of space as they could have just been built under the ramps... but I guess it's the thought that counts. And I guess that also mean that there'll still be room for me and my family should Jamie Thomas ever decide to give me his building.

The boards you're looking at above are part of a series called Strange World which is also the name of their upcoming video. If it comes close to being as rad as these are then you're in for a treat.
