QUICK Q+A WITH TODD FRANCIS

Q: Is there a story behind this particular painting?
A: This painting has no real specific story behind it, more like a bunch of little stories all sideswiping each other at a defective traffic signal. Tumored pigeons with used condoms are cozy territory for me, and the little sideshows like the Iraqi lost limbs and the flying dragonflies nosed their way in there somehow. Guess I just wanted to amuse myself in some small way with it, and what's more amusing than spent condoms and severed limbs.

Q: What have you been working on lately?
A: Finishing up a series of boards for the Element Advocates program, a special series of board graphics that will coincide with a dvd short film. Those are set to release in December 07. Also, I've partnered with Equal Distribution in San Francisco to make some of my original artwork available. I usually keep my website (toddfrancis.com) updated on all the latest junk I've been up to.
