| June saw
Melbourne-based Beci Orpin install her personal take on modern folk
art, entitled "In the Shadows" at Monster Children Gallery. Expanding
on themes she has been exploring for some time secrets, darkness,
folklore and adolescent memories take new forms. Taking her past work
on wood into 3-dimensions Beci installed a tree whose branches tell
multiple stories alongside smaller casted forms that merge collage,
sculpture and ready-mades. Beci also created new works on paper - bold
and colourful printed and collaged works and paper cuts that hark back
to the days of craft and domestic arts invoking folklore and the beauty
and darkness in nature. |
