A little while back I organized the first Useless Toy Boat Race in Vancouver Canada.
The rules were simple:
1. Build a toy boat (no motor)
2. Bring it to the
park on race day
3. Enter that shit in the race!
4. Win a prize for placing well or for building the awesomest boat
5. Go skateboarding or whatever and forget all about toy boats and stuff
While future events were being planned for the LA River and a TBD waterway in Portland, the second Useless Toy Boat Race went off in Vancouver on the first day of Spring, 2008, with the same rules as the original. Lots of carved styrofoam, some wood, a bunch of cardboard, scotch tape and tons of enthusiasm equalled one awesome time for everybody.
Big thanks to all of our sponsors, everybody who made a boat and especially Cyrus Thiedeke for being our friendly announcer two times running.
You're definitely gonna want to scroll down the page for the video of this one. And keep your eyes peeled and your ears open for news of the Useless Toy Boat Race series making it's way to your town... or just get a bunch of folks together and hold your own!
